does this website need to be given a wider profile?

Hi everyone, I was used to getting little bundles of messages every few days and I miss them.  Perhaps this website needs to be further advertised because exchanging info seems to have dried up, possibly because you have to make the effort to log in rather than stuff arriving in the school email inbox.

Any ideas, perhaps a message could be put on psychexchange?

best wishes

I agree. I found the old system much more helpful - often as topics came up for discussion that I didn't even realise I had misunderstood, etc. This system seems much less conducive to discussion.

Yes, it's 2 weeks since I looked at this forum. When I logged in, I thought I would find loads of new discussions but was disappointed to find that just 2 more had started - and those with very few replies.

I realise it takes time for changes to establish themselves and it is dependent on the members of the community but I, like MRJ, am missing the drip feed nature of direct e-mails that just appear in my in box rather than having to set aside a chunk of time to log on and check for any replies to discussions that have already started only to find that there is not a lot more than last time I looked.

Happy to be part of a solution (skills allowing)

It is possible to set up alerts so that you are notified when new comments are posted.

If you go into your account, then the 'My Alerts' tab there are a number of settings which you can customise to suit your preferences.

I have to agree with all comments made so far.  I found the old system much more helpful and easier to respond to.  I put a query on this website and now I can't even find it, let alone any responses to it!

me too. so much easier to get the information sent across automatically, and even if it wasnt all relevant, it was very easy to delete those you didnt want. I picked up lots of good tips and comments which I might never have searched for. This  set up reminds me if a very turgid course I had to do years ago in IT in learning. Why has this been done?

I agree . It is very 'clunky'. Does anyone know how you find previous discussion threads?  All I can see are 'latest discussions' - a thread I contributed to a week or so ago seems to have disappeared.

Your 'My Account' page shows all of your recent activities including links to discussions you have participated in.

I do understand that the new site will take some getting used to but I hope that in time it will become as active as the previous elist.

I agree witht the above about this site not being user friendly, and I hope that we get told why the other e-community got disbanded  - it was so rich in its diversity!

For the moment, I can't even find teh 'My Account' page - please advise!

I completely agree.  I find this a complete pain (when I can find it!).  Today, it reckoned it couldn't recognize my password so I had to enter temporarily.  Then, I should have been able to reset my password.  But there was no clue about where or how to do it.  If this message is 'moderated', I hope the moderator can advise!!

You can access your account information and profile by clicking on your username in the profile box towards the top right of the page. You can then change your password (Edit my profile tab) and set up email alerts (My Alerts tab) so that you are notified when someone posts.

All OCR subjects will be moving on to this new format of ecommunity so I hope that we can find ways to make this forum useful.
