Hi all for P3 am I correct in saying that students need to choose one of the technologies from 2.1 in the spec and discuss a project (case study) that they find related to it and then discuss how it could be extended or developed in a different context for example body/health and how that could be developed into the home/garden sector?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

Sorry, didn;t see your original thread.

OK so P3 is

Outline potential development projects
that could extend the scope of the IoE

The guidance on assessment does provide some useful guidance here as follows:

In order to consider potential developments for the IoE it will be necessary for learners to explore existing developments. An extensive list of examples is provided in the teaching content. Learners will need to outline potential development projects that could extend the scope of the IoE. These developments could be an extension to an existing application, a new application or taking an existing application and identifying how it could be developed in a different context. Evidence can be in the form of a written report, a presentation with detailed speaker notes, a video of the information being presented to an audience or an information guide describing the different potential developments.

It is probably a good idea for the learners to look at current developments that have taken place (remember it is more than one), and then consider how their uses can be extended further or adapted for different situations.

Healthcare is a good sector as they have been using IoE a lot.

That's what I said Simon.  The repurposing can be for another sector or an extension in the current sector.

Hi Mo, thanks for that for P2 do students need to discuss points 1.6-1.15 from the spec and under each section discuss how it can transform a business or at the end summarise how the four pillars transform a business?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

The teaching content is not a ticklist for assessment but is merely what they should be taught.  They then select what they need to meet the assessment criteria.

P2 - Explain the four pillars of the IoE and how its innovations can transform business.

So first, they explain the four pillars of IoE (1.5) and then look at how the innovations based on the four pillars can transform business.

They will use the points in the spec to aid them with their explanations of the innovations.

Hi Mo, for D1 are students to look at the negative impacts of the four pillars and then perhaps an overall view of the negative impacts of the IOE on businesses?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

It is the negative impact the Internet of Everything has had on businesses.

Hi Simon

The wording of the assessment criterion is:

D1: Evaluate the potential negative impacts of these innovations on businesses

It does not mention the 4 pillars.

Hi Mo, so for P3 could students discuss for example smart signage (from city/neighbourhood) and then how it could be extended?  As well as smart air conditioner (from home/garden) and also how it can be extended?

Thanks

Simon
