Unit 11 Theories
Hi all
Just wondered whether I dreamt this up - for the theorist section I thought I heard that it is ok to only do one theorist from each perspective rather than doing the two from each named on the specification, however I am not sure this is right as if it is named on the spec I would imagine a question could be asked directly about a particular theorist.
Is it possible to select one theorist from each section e.g. for psychodynamic use Freud rather than Erikson, or will there be questions requiring them to know the different theorists from the same perspective.
Sorry if this is a stupid question - I am new to this.
Thanks

You're right, they never specify the theorist, only the perspective on the exam so students only have to know about one from each.
Thanks for your reply.
Sarah I don't suppose you can confirm this? Thanks
Hi there
Yes, I can confirm that candidates are required to have an in-depth knowledge of only one theorist for each perspective. In recent series we have opened up the questions to allow those candidates who have a broader overview of more than one theory to be able to access the full range of marks (they tend to be those doing GCE Psychology alongside), so you might see questions eg Using theory from the ... perspective, analyse...
